About Joanne Duncan.

Joanne was first elected to the Victorian Parliament as the Member for Gisborne in l999 and later, following an electorate redistribution, re-elected as the first Member for Macedon in 2002.

She believes that politicians must be actively involved in their community and be committed to supporting the needs of the local area.

Joanne grew up in Keilor and studied at St Columba’s College Essendon and the Footscray Institute. She received the Bachelor of Education from the Melbourne College of Advanced Education in l988.

Prior to entering Parliament, Joanne held the positions of Head of School Library at Salesian College in Sunbury.

Joanne is Chair of the Ministerial Advisory Council on Public Libraries, a member of the Environment and Natural Resources Committee and co-convenor of the Government Women’s Parliamentary Taskforce.

Her non-parliamentary interests and memberships include, Amnesty International, the RSPCA, Friends of Dromkeen, Emily’s List, the RSPCA, the Gisborne Football Club and the Parliamentary Lions Club.

To relax Joanne enjoys horseriding and is an avid reader and movie buff.
